Fare Change After Reserving or Purchasing

Applicable Fares and Charges

Fares and charges valid for the date of boarding on the date the ticket was purchased will apply. Even if there is a change in the fare amount of the flight after purchasing the ticket, the difference will not be collected or refunded.

  • *
If the fare is one where the reservation can be changed and the fare changes due to a change in the boarding date (such as when crossing over normal or peak periods), the difference will be collected or refunded.

If the fare/price changes in the period between after making the reservation to purchasing the ticket, the fare/price valid at the time of purchase will apply, and therefore it may differ from the fare/price when the reservation is made.

Reference Date for Determining Fare

The reference date for determining the fare is the reference date on which the fare for the ticket is determined. The ‘reference date for determining fare’ means the date on which the ticket was purchased, but in some cases, the purchase date of the ticket and the fare application reference date may differ.
The reference date for determining the fare is determined separately for each flight.

Specific Examples

Here are some examples of fare calculation rules and reference dates for determining the fare.

(1) If the fare amount changes

Before the ticket has been purchased

[Example 1] After reserving SORATABI 28 to board a flight of June 1 on April 1 at a cost of JPY 15,000, the fare amount reduced to JPY 13,000 on April 3.
When purchasing a ticket on April 4
April 1: Cost of ticket = JPY 15,000, April 3: Cost of ticket reduced to JPY 13,000, April 4 (reference date for determining fare): Ticket purchased at JPY 13,000
As the fare amount at the time of purchasing the ticket applies, the purchase amount is JPY 13,000.

[Example 2] After reserving SORATABI 28 to board a flight of June 1 on April 1 at a cost of JPY 13,000, the fare amount increased to JPY 15,000 on April 3.
When purchasing a ticket on April 4
April 1: Cost of ticket = JPY 13,000, April 3: Cost of ticket increased to JPY 15,000, April 4 (reference date for determining fare): Ticket purchased at JPY 15,000
As the fare amount at the time of purchasing the ticket applies, the purchase amount is JPY 15,000.

After the ticket has been purchased

[Example 3] After purchasing SORATABI 28 to board a flight of June 1 on April 1 at a cost of JPY 13,000, the fare amount increased to JPY 15,000 on May 1.
April 1: Ticket cost = JPY 13,000, May 1: Ticket cost increased to JPY 15,000, June 1 (Boarding date): Fare amount = JPY 13,000
As the fare amount at the time of purchasing the ticket applies, the cost difference (JPY 2,000) will not be collected.

[Example 4] After purchasing SORATABI 28 to board a flight of June 1 on April 1 at a cost of JPY 15,000, the fare amount decreased to JPY 13,000 on May 1.
April 1: Ticket cost = JPY 15,000, May 1: Ticket cost decreased to JPY 13,000, June 1 (Boarding date): Fare amount = JPY 15,000
As the fare amount at the time of purchasing the ticket applies, the cost difference (JPY 2,000) will not be refunded.

(2) If you change your boarding date from peak season to regular season after purchasing a ticket

If you change the boarding date with a rebookable fare, the fare amount on the date the ticket was purchased (reference date for determining fare) will apply as the fare set for the boarding date after the change.

[Example 1] When the boarding date was changed from August 10 (peak season) to September 1 (regular season) on July 30 after purchasing a standard adult fare to board a flight of August 10 (peak season) on June 10 at a cost of JPY 34,000
June 10: Set fare on June 10 = JPY 34,000 for peak season, JPY 32,000 for regular season *reference date for determining fare
July 30: Date of change to reservation (changed from August 10 to September 1) *peak season (July 8 to August 31)
August 10 (Boarding date prior to change): Ticket cost = JPY 34,000 during peak season
September 1 (boarding date after change): Ticket cost = JPY 32,000 during regular season *regular season (From September 1)
The fare effective for the changed boarding date (September 1) on the ticket purchase date (June 10) is JPY 32,000. Therefore, the cost difference (JPY 2,000) will be refunded.

(3) If you pay for your ticket at a convenience store

If you pay at a convenience store after printing the payment slip through using convenience store payment, the date the ticket was purchased and the reference date for determining the fare may differ.

  • *
If you issue an application ticket or waiting ticket at a multimedia terminal installed at a convenience store and take it to the cash register, the fare displayed on the terminal screen will apply.

[Example 1] After reserving SORATABI 28 to board a flight of June 1 on April 1 at a cost of JPY 13,000 and selecting a payment method (print payment slip), the fare amount increased to JPY 15,000 on April 3.
April 1: Cost of ticket = JPY 13,000 *reference date for determining fare (= date of when the payment method was selected)
April 3: Cost of ticket raised to JPY 15,000
April 4 (date of payment): Cost of ticket = JPY 13,000
As the fare amount that is presented when selecting the payment method applies, even if the fare amount changed on April 3, the cost difference will not be collected.

(4) Adding a return flight after purchasing a one way ticket

[Example 1] After purchasing a standard adult fare to board a flight of June 1 on April 1, a return flight of June 5 was added and the fare was changed to a roundtrip fare on May 1.
On April 1, which is the reference date for determining outward fare, purchased standard adult fare ticket to board a flight of June 1.
On May 1, which is the reference date for determining return fare, added a return flight of June 5 and changed to a roundtrip fare.
As the reference date for determining the fare is set for each flight, the reference date for the added return flight is May 1. The reference date for the roundtrip fare remains as April 1.
